June 2000 – Present           Operations Manager/Director - Trinity Sailing Foundation

Co-ordinating the daily operation of three vessels 12-24m undertaking youth training voyages and adult holiday charter; providing shore-side logistical support; recruiting, training and managing sea staff; managing maintenance and refit programmes; maintaining quality and safety standards; providing relief cover for full time skippers; managing the office and shore staff; budget planning and control; client contact and liaison; marketing; web site design, programming and management.

I joined the board of directors in December 2001, and since then have been involved in company strategy, financial planning and the ongoing development of this expanding organisation.

1995 – Present                    Skipper/Instructor – Freelance

Since 1995 I have worked freelance for a variety of organisations aboard vessels 9m – 24m.Roles have involved sail training, holiday charter, RYA Instruction, race training, corporate hospitality and management training. Clients ranged from individuals and youth groups to large multinationals.

Experience and Achievements

·       Youngest person to be awarded RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate (age 17, June 1995)

·       Logged over 36,000 miles aboard over 40 types of vessel, 7m – 24m.

·       Southampton University Yachting Rep 1997–99. Awarded Club Colours for outstanding achievement.

·       Awarded RINA/Marconi Marine, RYA and SUT Fugro-GEOS Prizes for degree Honours Design Project “The design of an offshore racing yacht”

·       Excellent ICT skills including MS Windows/Office and many specialist applications

·       Taught English to Tibetan monks on refugee settlement in southern India, Sep 1995 – April 1996.  Included travelling extensively in India and Nepal, and four week trek to Everest base camp.
